Colombo, June 30 (Daily Mirror) - A Sri Lankan passenger attempting to smuggle a stock of high-end electronic devices valued at over Rs. 60 million was arrested by airport customs officers at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) early this morning.

The suspect, a 22-year-old businessman from Avissawella, had arrived in the country from Dubai on SriLankan Airlines flight UL-226, which landed at 5.30 a.m. today.

Customs officials said the suspect had attempted to take the items through the airport’s 'Green Channel', typically reserved for passengers with nothing to declare. The consignment, which included 238 mobile phones, tablet computers, and other electronic devices, was found concealed in four pieces of luggage he had brought with him.

The passenger has been detained, and airport customs officials are conducting further investigations into the incident.
