Sri Lankan Bishop gets post in Vatican

Colombo, July 4 (Daily Mirror) - Bishop of Badulla Jude Nishantha Silva has been appointed by Pope Leo XIV as a member of the Inter Religious Dicastery in the Vatican.

The announcement from the Vatican was made this morning.

Current Archbishop of Colombo, Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith is the only other Sri Lankan Bishop to hold a post in the Vatican during the recent past.

Dicastery works to ensure that dialogue with the followers of other religions takes place appropriately, with an attitude of listening, esteem and respect. It fosters various kinds of relations with them so that, through the contribution of all, peace, freedom, social justice, the protection and safeguarding of creation and spiritual and moral values may be promoted.
