Sri Lanka to showcase organic products at BioFach 2026 in Germany

Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) of the Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Ministry has announced its participation in the most renowned organic trade fair worldwide, BioFach 2026. 

It’s scheduled to be held between February 10 and 13, 2026 and will be in Nuremberg, Germany, where Sri Lanka will have its own consecrated national pavilion.

According to the EDB, BioFach is the biggest international trade fair of the organic sector, where global buyers, exporters as well as industry leaders avail the opportunity to know about the market trends, exchange their knowledge and sell organic products. By this endeavour, the EDB hopes to increase the international demand of the Sri Lankan certified organic products, especially in the European Union (EU) region.

There will also be a dedicative area in the pavilion dedicated to exhibiting items concerned to promote Sri Lanka Organic-certified products and Protected Geographical indication (PGI)-certified Organic Ceylon Cinnamon, which are facts to keep in mind, given the agricultural heritage that the country has.

The certified organic agriculture processors and exporters of international food standards (EU Organic and SLS 1324) are now accepted in their applications. The potential products that can be used to apply the products are fruits and vegetables (processed and fresh), coconut-based products, spices and spice mixtures, specialty foods, health supplements and herbal beverages.

The EDB notes that the participants need to bear the cost involving in space and construction. However, the EDB will consider partially funding a selected group of SMEs in this regard.
