Sri Lanka has entered into an agreement with Israel to send workers to be employed in the latter’s agricultural sector, Cabinet Spokesperson Minister Bandula Gunawardana said.
He said the Cabinet of Ministers this week approved a proposal in this regard submitted by Minister of Labour and Foreign Employment. “In terms of the said agreement, the Population, Immigration and Territory Authority of that country expects to recruit labour for agricultural activities of Israel,” the Department of Government Information said.
Gunawardana assured that Sri Lankan workers will be provided with first-class security.
Currently Israel is involved in a war with Hamas in Gaza Strip. Recently, the remains of a Sri Lankan who tragically died due to the Israel-Hamas war were brought back to Sri Lanka.

Agriculture sector including plant ion industries are suffering due to lack of labour. Sri Lankan ministers are keen to send Sri Lankans as slaves to other countries pure to get Dollars. There will not be any development within Sri Lanka.

Excellent move. Please also look at research and collaboration with agro tech and irrigation tech with Israeli universities and our universities and department of agriculture. They have AI driven technology for water management which will be useful for our dry zones including in the North.

We are sending capable people to work as labourers in foreign countries. They think it's an achievement. Our country will now be known internationally as the country who export housemaids and labourers to work in farms. So much for "rata beragath verayo" - Hero's who saved the country.

Why some Pin Padi MPs and their families go there? Why poor people are to this zone?
