Sri Lanka seeks ASEAN sectoral partnership, not membership: Minister

Colombo, March 15 (Daily Mirror) - Sri Lanka has only sought ASEAN Sectoral Dialogue Partnership and not ASEAN membership, Foreign Affairs Minister Vijitha Hearth said.

"We have not sought membership of ASEAN.

We are seeking an ASEAN Sectoral Dialogue Partnership. We have applied for the same in 2019 and will be submitting a new work plan shortly for the same.

"It was my mistake," the Minister told the Daily Mirror.

Before seeking memberships here , there, and everywhere, get down to doing an honest job of work because the country is going from bad to worse every day.

Agree on `getting down to doing an honest Job` before seeking membership on non priority areas. However, disagree on `country is going from bad to worse` - because there is no factual evidence of that (yet). Besides, corruption and wasteful extravagance is being curtailed (evidence based)- which is a step in the right direction. Call it for what it is, because Sri Lanka cant afford to go back to what it was again.

Stop making statements. Your street drama era to entertain voters are over. You have been given ultimate power. Show some results. Big talk with nice twisted words was done during two election campaigns. People have forgotten the sweet stories because nothing good is being delivered.

This government members making dumbass statements. They frequently make statements saying how much previous regime members have stolen State and public money. Any they know who they are yes the culprits but never ever prosecuted anyone, period. Ironic, whatta bunch of clowns.

Sri Lanka will not get full membership of ASEAN, so it is better to try for Sectoral Partnership which is not of much benefit to Sri Lanka.

Government says country is experiencing "DEFLATION". I really know what method or what calculator that NPP government is using. PRICES are sky rocketing. When President AKD was campaigning for Presidential election, he mentioned that he would create "EXPORT ZONES". Where are those ZONES??
