Even being ranked number one means nothing if SL can't qualify and win the ICC ODI world Cup.

Sri Lanka has a long way to go before they secure direct qualification to play in the finals of the Super Eight against stiff opposition like India Australia South Africa NZ and England and could eventually end up at the bottom of the points table after . Failing to qualify on several times earlier Sri Lanka had to enter through the back door after winning against minor associate members like Zimbabwe Ireland Scotland and Netherlands etc. who hardly play any cricket internationally.
