What does an industrial engineer know about nuclear safety. Won't believe a single word that comes out of a SriLankan politician's mouth.

    Don Saturday, 24 February 2024 11:35 AM

Are you really kidding? No one in the world can do anything if a nuclear disaster happens. This is why the world is trying to safeguard nuclear reactors from technical failure and deliberate attacks. Also the world is trying to have agreement among countries not to use nuclear weapons. Everyone will face consequences if nuclear radiation occurs. Nothing you guys can do. Just stop being a laughingstock and hoodwink less educated people.

The restricted area around Chernobyl still accounts for almost 10 percent of Sri Lanka's land area. The contaminated area was more than twice the size of Sri Lanka. And these Council jokers want to tell me that Sri Lanka is prepared for a nuclear accident.

Tell us how! What resources you have ! What Emergency Response Plans in place! What training has been done! How do you protect public from exposure! You need to present the facts then public will accept if not yours will be just another statement to make headlines

    ANTON Saturday, 24 February 2024 12:03 PM

IS NOT THERE ANY SOURCE TO PROTECT US FROM THE RADIATION EMISSION OF ECONOMY ATTACK.

    Siripala Saturday, 24 February 2024 12:12 PM

Looks we are ahead of Japan.

    Gotohellyouidiot Saturday, 24 February 2024 12:51 PM

I need to smoke what this man smokes. We don't even have proper drainage in Colombo. What's he on about .

    MS Saturday, 24 February 2024 01:14 PM

hey must be having a big fan to blow the nuclear particles away.. ha ha

    Athk69 Saturday, 24 February 2024 01:17 PM

Tell this to the Kondey Bandapu Cheennu... even country’s like Japan which is far ahead of SL, cannot do much, when it faces nuclear accidents...

    Citizen k Saturday, 24 February 2024 01:21 PM

Yes umbrellas are available when there is a nuclear fall out.

Ane bun Saturday, 24 February 2024 01:26 PM

Am I to laugh from my backside.. yes.

    ModaPutha Saturday, 24 February 2024 01:47 PM

When the tsunami and Covid hit us we didn’t know what took us, and we are now brave enough to be ready for nuclear accident, bravo Minister !

    Gabriella Saturday, 24 February 2024 02:05 PM

    Mokade ey ? Nuicklear ?

    Iwazaru Saturday, 24 February 2024 02:06 PM

A simpe question, how many geiger counters are there in Sri Lanka?

    Helanka Saturday, 24 February 2024 03:07 PM

What are we talking about here, what are we ready for exactly? Please be specific in your reporting. Doesn't make sense.

    Spartacus Saturday, 24 February 2024 03:37 PM

What jokers... if there is a nuclear attack do you have the knowledge or equipment to repulse such a attack and safe guard the citizens?

    Grace Saturday, 24 February 2024 03:49 PM

Yes. We know you politicians are closely monitoring happenings in the region. If there is an impending Nuclear weapons use, you politicians and your family members will be the first batch to leave the country by special flights to your 2nd home countries where you will be safe secure.

Closest nuclear accident that can happen is in Tamil Nadu Saturday, 24 February 2024 05:01 PM

Closest nuclear reactor that is running and getting extra capacity is in Tamil Nadu. Those reactors are outside of Sri Lankan oversight. We will either benefit if there is grid connection between India and Sri Lanka, or suffer if there is an accident with Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant. What were the particular things that can be done to protect locals if there is major disaster with the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant? Do the Parliament just trust the word of the official without looking into how the radiation emission can be handled if it come across from Tamil Nandu.

wickrama wijayasiri Saturday, 24 February 2024 05:02 PM

Right on! This is a major concern of the voter!! Please elaborate and enlighten us as to who the attackers would be, and what they would want from us. heh, heh.

    Mfb Saturday, 24 February 2024 06:07 PM

I don’t think any near future there will be a Nuclear Attack or Radiation leak. If there’s an attack on Sri Lanka. One third of the population will die depends on the area of the attack. Some people talk bullshit.

    Gt Saturday, 24 February 2024 06:36 PM

Really, can't even print licenses coz of lack of materials, how many radiation suits does sl have? Millions? How many bunkers with food to feed entire population? Or did he mean politicians and their families are prepared only? What rubbish, can't even keep a fossil fuel plant working properly, these guys are gonna cause a new fukushima in sl, but hey atleast THEY are prepared

    Deepthi Saturday, 24 February 2024 06:38 PM

Tell us more. What are the preparations that have been made? What's the plan we have as country to face such a threat?

Big talk Saturday, 24 February 2024 07:04 PM

Can't even control dengu in this country, talking big about radiation. Sri lankans are good for talk, but when it comes to implementation no idea what to do.

Rip Winkle Saturday, 24 February 2024 07:49 PM

How? Are you in possession of 22 million gas mask? Are you ready to have them distributed to all the people at a moment's notice? Details please and btw, have you ever seen a gas mask or know what it contains l?

    Sambo Saturday, 24 February 2024 08:24 PM

It should happen to see how how you fair. Because in this country we talk, talk and talk but nothing happens.

Yes we need modayas Saturday, 24 February 2024 11:14 PM

If a nuclear accident happens in the proximity of SL, our national solution is to get our Reddthe wearing 226 to lift up their reddthes and shield the population. Yes we need more modayas like the one who made a statement.

    Citizen Sunday, 25 February 2024 01:35 AM

During COVID time they do not even had the plan or capacity to distribute or made available face marks at affordable price. They are talking about nuclear radiation.

    FredSnR Sunday, 25 February 2024 04:09 AM

Daily dose of drivel to keep the mind away from real issues the country is being lost and no one seems to care

    Pala Sunday, 25 February 2024 05:05 AM

Send this man to work in Fukushima No.1 plant works, as a part-timer.

Pinpala Gonakanda Sunday, 25 February 2024 09:53 AM

This man has no brain like many politicians in the SL! Therefor must be appointed as a minister to sit on the empty brain!

    Viktor Sunday, 25 February 2024 08:06 PM

These guys show that they know nothing on nuclear safety. Unless they are telling us plans to protect themselves - a lead bunker has been built below their basement where they can move to save themseives

    Raj Sunday, 25 February 2024 08:16 PM

Check the IQs of the persons questioned him and the person answered! Of course he might have some staff in the office warming up seats with public money without any competence.

    jeewaka Sunday, 25 February 2024 09:30 PM

Who is this guy? Tennison cooray?

    Terrence K Monday, 26 February 2024 08:41 AM

Don't be too complacent by saying that Sri Lanka is ready to face any radiation emission if a nuclear accident happens in the region. The lessons learnt consequent to the Chernobyl nuclear disaster in India was that planning was foolish for another accident without any flexibility since the only fact that can be sure is that the next severe accident will be different. As such Emergency plans should be flexible!!!!!!!!!!
