Colombo, February 28 (Daily Mirror) - The Sri Lanka Government has expressed deep concern over the rapid escalation of hostilities in the Middle East, warning that the situation poses a serious threat to regional stability and international peace and security.
In a media release issued today (27), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism urged all concerned parties to exercise maximum restraint and to take immediate and decisive steps to de-escalate tensions.
The Government stressed that all sides must refrain from further provocative actions in order to prevent the risk of a broader regional conflict, which could lead to severe humanitarian and economic consequences.
Sri Lanka reiterated its call for calm and constructive engagement to safeguard peace and stability in the region.
