Sri Lanka calls for peaceful resolution to Cambodia-Thailand border conflict
The Government of Sri Lanka has expressed deep concern over the recent incidents along the Cambodia-Thailand border, which have reportedly led to the loss of life, displacement of civilians and damage to culturally significant sites.
In an official statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, Sri Lanka emphasised the importance of resolving the situation through peaceful means.
“As a nation guided by the timeless teachings of Lord Buddha, centered on non-violence, compassion and peaceful coexistence, Sri Lanka urges both countries to engage in early diplomatic dialogue aimed at resolving differences peacefully,” the statement read.
Sri Lanka also extended its sympathies to the affected communities and reiterated its belief in diplomacy and dialogue as the most effective path to lasting peace in the region.
