Assembly for Medium to Small EVs Using AI Technology Friday, 26 April 2024 07:27 AM

Good if medium to small EVs can be produced. Will be a boost for local market and to ship out in the near region too. The smaller EVs can replace the 3Wheelers within the next 5 to 8 years once production is in full swing with AI technology assistance too.

Take a Look at China Auto 2024 EVs and Be Surprised Friday, 26 April 2024 12:02 PM

Take a look at their EVs currently on show at Auto China 2024 in Beijing. Having around 24 brands and 100 over different models with high end electronics and systems. You like most have not seen their EVs which have over taken Tesla and abundantly found in many countries because of the import restrictions in SL lately.

Cinnamon vs electric cars. Lankan modaya's logic. We have this type of people like as PM.

China Quality EVs Top Exporter of the World Friday, 26 April 2024 11:30 AM

As usual, you like most are still ignorant on the quality of their EVs and their other products. What you find in SL are mostly inferior stuff which SL businesses got for a discount to sell to unsuspecting people like you. Coz of the import restrictions these past years in SL, you have not seen their latest models and left behind in the automotive world. They have overtaken US Tesla and now world top producer. Take a look at countries in Australia, Europe and the US with abundance of China EVs on the roads. Google up BYD, Geely or top-15-electric-vehicle-companies in China and surprise to see all the high end electronics and systems these cars are having.

If China vehicle better than Indian made vehicle will be avoided Friday, 26 April 2024 08:10 PM

You think somehow because made in China no good. Most high tech phone made in China. I don't know anyone who thinks any good of Indian made vehicle except that is cheap, and design done by European nation.

    FredSnR Friday, 26 April 2024 08:11 AM

A Chinese EV manufacturing facility in SL ? if so great they are probably leading the world in low cost EV but an even better way to solve SL transport problems include buses

Do we have a diplomatic giggle now? Friday, 26 April 2024 08:40 AM

This is an episode from Sirimao's political journey. The then PM visited China. Mao chairman of CCP was generous to offer several plans, and slowly enquired if Lanka can take some Chinese citizens, say ten million? Madam as usual, very politely giggled to say NO to Mao.

As long as the tax payers and country is benefited and not pocketed with peoples names highlighted to fools, it’s another scam. Can you match the price of a domestic Indian car without present 100 to 200 or more taxes that has being levied?

    Harsha Friday, 26 April 2024 09:51 AM

without adding 200% Tax it would be affordable

When election is around the corner u see companies like Volkswagen and things like that finding interest in srilanka.. I’m not surprised if these guys say apple is planning on shifting to srilanka and that negotiations are in progress

    Rambo Friday, 26 April 2024 11:22 AM

Like our do called garment industry, this also seem like a venture to make few thousand lower level jobs and lot of benefits and tax breaks to the investors.

Better to have a Job Than No Job Friday, 26 April 2024 11:56 AM

At least they bring food onto the table and not protesting around aimlessly. Now, any job is better than not having a job. You must be fortunate to be doing good, with a good paying job and coming from a good family. There so many out there unable to get the basics and struggling by the day just to survive.

FROM PAST PROJECTS CHINA HAS GOT INVOLVED, FINANCED AND BUILT MAJORITY OF LABOUR AND OR EQUIPMENT ARE BROUGHT INTO THE COUNTRY FROM CHINA. Friday, 26 April 2024 02:14 PM

Better to have a job than no job!! MAJORITY if not ALL CHINESE PROJECTS THEY BROUGHT IN THEIR OWN LABOUR. IN ADDITION, I WOULDN'T BE SURPRISED IF THERE ARE MORE CHINESE THAN SRI LANKANS LIVING IN THE SOUTHERN AREAS OF THE COUNTRY. DO NOT HOLD YOUR HOPES HIGH THAT OUR PEOPLE WILL BE HIRED.

Different Needs and Wants Friday, 26 April 2024 05:00 PM

Most politicians in SL were and are still not interested in uplifting the citizens lifestyle. They were and are still more interested in improving their personal and family lifestyles. As such, most citizens are still needing those low paying jobs and the fortunate ones, having other forms of funds are able to upgrade themselves in education and their lifestyle. China and some others are doing a favour to the needy by providing some low paying jobs which the educated and well off finds it to embarrassing to take up.

Dinesh is an expired commodity. Don't they retire? Give this task to a young MP with engineering qualifications, of course not to Nalaka Godahewa, who is quite known for you know what.

    Rambo Friday, 26 April 2024 01:44 PM

"Better have a job than no job" - It's exactly this mindset that brought us all this mess. Looking at life from this kinda point of view brought us the short sighted politicians who dragged us to this ditch. Garment manufacturing is a low skill very poor country industry that we should've already moved on from in the late 90s. Or should've incorporated more design and development like some of the leaders tof he industry. Instead we're largely a cut and saw destination that lets cheap labour to be exploited. And eseembly jobs of any kind are no different. But as long as we have people like you I guess we're stuck here for the long run.

Slow ball Friday, 26 April 2024 03:05 PM

Why would they shift to sl when there is cheap labor there and spare parts are all manufactured there.I feel these guys are putting a slow ball just before election.. hope our ppl don’t get out for the slow ball..

China has Developed Tremendously within a Short Span Friday, 26 April 2024 04:47 PM

Most areas in China are considered developed and their educated employees are being paid higher than those in other parts of Asia. They have transformed and uplifted their standard of living greatly over the past 40 years. That’s why they are looking at Africa, Pacific islands, Bangladesh, SL etc for certain low skill jobs needing low cost labour. Since there is still unemployment in SL and they are educated, China is keen to invest and some fortunate ones will get employed and join the Chinese employers.

    Mahila Saturday, 27 April 2024 04:57 AM

Chinese vehicles are cheaper – Safety Features FALLS SHORT!? Chinese automobile CONSTRUCT standards are WANTING – below expectation of ANCAP Rating!!?? Report extracts, below – MG5 - model, delivered – Australian Market in 08/2023!!?? Accordingly, vehicle ‘SAFETY STANDARDS and FEATURES’ – both PASSIVE and ACTIVE – are NON-COMPLIANT with Australian/New Zealand, Standards, as that obtained – Western DESIGNED Autos!? “MG 5, introduced in Australia – 08/2023. This ANCAP safety rating applies to all variants of MG5!?” Dual Frontal, Side Chest-Protecting and Side Head-Protecting Airbags are standard. CENTRE AIRBAG TO PREVENT OCCUPANT-TO-OCCUPANT INTERACTION in Emergency, ISN'T AVAILABLE!!?? Tested vehicle NOT FITTED with "SEATBELT PRE-TENSIONERS", for either the FRONT OR REAR SEATING POSITIONS. A Seatbelt Reminder (SBR) system, FITTED as standard to "FRONT SEATING POSITIONS ONLY"!! SBR’s – NOT FITTED – SECOND ROW SEATS!!?? Test Scores – ZERO STARS!!! Leads to “SLAUGHTER”, ON SL ROADS!!!???

    Patcitz Saturday, 27 April 2024 03:11 PM

Yeah, an excellent idea, bring Chinese vehicles into Sri Lanka and destroy all the India vehicles and ban all Indian vehicles importation effective immediately.
