Sri Lanka Men’s squad announced for T20 World Cup

Colombo, Feb. 2 (Daily Mirror) - The Sri Lanka Cricket Selection Panel has selected a 15-member Sri Lanka Men’s squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 will commence on 7th February, with India and Sri Lanka co-hosting the tournament.

The squad include:

Kusal Mendis
Kamindu Mendis
Kusal Janith Perera
Charith Asalanka
Janith Liyanage
Pavan Rathnayake
Wanindu Hasaranga

What's the catch with Theekshana he's been a total failure and still gets recalled ???? We have enough talented players knocking at the door and the selectors just keep shutting the door at them....really sad situation

A shame we have retained the Coach who has not produced results. At an interview our nonplaying captain says they are still trying to get the best combination. What was this coach doing for the last 2 years or more. Other have finalized their plans. Our chances look great at 40/1.

Some of these players need to retire. Please have decent opening bowlers, else it will be a repeat of last T20. We will need two wicket keepers. Get some young blood from U19 team. I am sure there are hidden gems.

Dasun Shanaka,Kusal Janith Perera,Maheesh Theekshana,Charith Asalanka are absolutely shouldn't be in the team, at all..! They are shoe lickers of Sanath Jayasuriya and Pramodya Wickramasinghe.

So sorry to say this. No matter what squad is announced, we can predict with certainty the "outcome". We all appreciate that in a game, one side wins and the other, losers. But if losing becomes habitual, then it is a serious concern, especially when you are playing in home soil in front of your supporters! What has this government done to uplift the standard of cricket? Nothing. Just big talk only, as usual.
