Colombo, Jan. 18 (Daily Mirror) - A special circular has been issued directing public officials to accommodate religious observances during the upcoming Ramadan season.
Signed by Aloka Bandara, Secretary to the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government, the circular outlines work shift arrangements for Islamic devotees to perform their religious rites during designated time slots.
The Ramadan season will be observed from February 19 to March 21.
According to the circular, work shifts should be scheduled to allow observance during the following time periods: 3:30 AM to 6:00 AM, 3:15 PM to 4:15 PM, 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and 7:30 PM to 10:30 PM.
The circular also directs that festival advances be granted to eligible employees 14 days prior to the end of the Ramadan season.
