Special advisory issued for naval, fishing communities

The fishing and naval communities engaged in activities in the deep sea areas have been advised not to venture into the sea during the next 24 hours due to a low-level atmospheric disturbance to the south of Sri Lanka, the Meteorology Department said.

They said the atmospheric disturbance could intensify into a low-pressure area during the next 24 hours.

Accordingly, fishing and naval communities are advised not to venture into the deep seas off Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota.

Those who are out in the sea in these areas are advised to return to the coasts or move to safer areas. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
