The government provides money to every public representative to serve the public, but it is not used to build at least culverts, Environment Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said.
He said public representatives should not always wait to spend government money. They should take steps to provide solutions to the problems of the people as much as they can.
"The public also has a right to know what happens to the money allocated by the government. I know some politicians who have been in Parliament for 30 or 40 years, do nothing for the people in their areas. Some people only remember the voter during election time, " he said.
