An over speeding mini lorry (Canter) that was travelling in the general junction area of Wattappalai, Mullaittivu crashed into a military sentry point killing one soldier on duty and injuring another soldier this evening, Army said.
They said the lorry has lost control due to excessive speed and crashed on to the sentry point.
The deceased has been identified as H.P.S Pathirana of the 6 Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police (SLCMP).
Staff Sergeant S.D.R Dissanayake of the 6 SLCMP who was injured in the same incident, is now receiving treatment in the Mullaittivu Hospital. Mulliyaweli Police are conducting investigations.
