The news which is being circulated over social media that Archbishop of Colombo Cardinal Malclom Ranjith has accused US President Donald Trump of influencing the Vatican to elect an American Pope is fake, the spokesman for Cardinal Ranjith, Fr. Cyril Gamini Fernando said today.

The latest post on Facebook by Fr. Fernando said the news that are being circulated in social media that Cardinal Ranjith has expressed his disappointment over the election of the new pope is totally fake.
