Colombo, March 6 (Daily Mirror) - Another six more individuals have been arrested for defrauding Rs. 75 million by preparing forged documents for a 0.2137 hectare land belonging to the Kelaniya Pradeshiya Sabha, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) said.

Former Minister and Member of Parliament Mervyn de Silva was arrested in the Pelawatta area in Battaramulla last night over this scam

The Financial Crimes Investigation Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department is conducting investigations.

There are few high profile individuals who have been arrested and are now on bail! Majority of the citizens voted in this government knowing they will start the prosecution proceedings once sufficient evidence is gathered. Possible for the government to list the high profile cases on bail and when e will their trial begins for each case. The Public is eagerly waiting for the outcome especially the corrupt politicians and businessmen. Hope the laws which need amendments with harsher punishment, be implemented soonest too.
