Colombo, April 17 (Daily Mirror)- Six persons, including a thirteen-year-old schoolboy, were seriously injured when the three-wheeler they were travelling in collided with a private bus last night in Dikoya town, on the Hatton–Maskeliya main road, police said.

The three-wheeler was reportedly travelling at high speed with six passengers on board.

The injured were initially admitted to the Dikoya Base Hospital. Three of them, including the schoolboy who were in critical condition, were later transferred to the Kandy Teaching Hospital, according to the Hatton Police.

The accident occurred around 7:30 p.m. on 17th night in the Dikoya town.

Hatton Police said the three-wheeler was heading from Hatton to Letanti Estate. The driver, who was allegedly heavily intoxicated, lost control of the vehicle while speeding. The three-wheeler collided head-on with a private bus travelling in the opposite direction from Maskeliya to Hatton. The impact caused significant damage to both vehicles.

The driver of the private bus has been arrested by the Hatton Police on suspicion as investigations continue.
