Sister of doctor rape suspect arrested

Colombo, March 13 (Daily Mirror) - The elder sister of the suspect arrested for allegedly raping a female doctor at the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital has also been taken into custody.

Police arrested the 37-year-old woman from Galnewa for allegedly aiding the suspect after the crime.

The suspect had reportedly stayed at his sister's house the night following the incident.

However, when questioned by police the next day about his whereabouts, the woman reportedly failed to provide any details.

Police also recovered the mobile phone that had been stolen from the doctor at the woman's house.

A special team from the Anuradhapura Police arrested the woman and she will be produced before court.

Femicide, rape, abuse and discrimination of women is getting worse and worse worldwide. Where is the minister of child- and women affairs mrs. Paulraj? She is the minister of ALL raped and abused girls and women. Not only for women with connections, good positions and unionmembers.

This is very good action. But at the same time, those who are harbouring former IGP Deshabandu also need to be arrested and punished fully according to the law. We should now open a new era in law and order in this country. Citizens should begin to stop giving bribes and report and identify those who ask for them.
