Sinkhole disrupts traffic on Colombo entry road

Borella, August 21 (Daily Mirror) - A sinkhole on the road leading into Colombo has caused heavy traffic between Model Farm road junction and D.S. Senanayake Junction in the Borella police area, police said.

As a result, motorists have been advised to use alternative routes when entering Colombo.

Accordingly, police issued the following traffic diversions:

Vehicles from Model Farm road junction can turn towards the Cemetery Roundabout and enter Colombo via Baseline Road.

Vehicles arriving in Colombo from the Rajagiriya area can use Cotta Road via the Ayurveda Roundabout.

Vehicles travelling from Colombo towards Sri Jayawardenapura Road can turn left at D.S. Senanayake Junction and proceed via Borella Junction and Cotta Road.

Police urged motorists to follow these routes to ease congestion until the affected road section is restored.
