Showers are expected to occur at times in the Uva Province and in the districts of Matale, Nuwara Eliya, Ampara and Batticaloa, the Meteorological Department said.
According to the latest weather forecast, several spells of showers are also predicted in the Northern, North-Central and North-Western Provinces, as well as in the Hambantota District.
Furthermore, showers or thundershowers may develop at several other locations across the island after 2.00 p.m., with fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm likely at some places.
Meanwhile, fairly strong winds, ranging between 30 and 40 kmph, can be expected at times over the eastern slopes of the central hills and in the Northern, North-Central and North-Western Provinces. Wind speeds may increase up to 50 kmph at times in sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Kankasanthurai via Puttalam, and from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota.
Similar wind conditions are forecast for the districts of Matale, Trincomalee and Hambantota.
The department also added that misty conditions are likely during the early morning hours in parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central Provinces, as well as in the districts of Galle, Matara and Badulla.
