Showers expected in sea areas around island

Colombo, April 12 (Daily Mirror) - The Meteorology Department says showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas around the island during the next 24 hours.

According to the weather forecast issued at 5.30 a.m. today (12), showers are expected in sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Trincomalee via Colombo, Galle, Hambantota and Batticaloa.

Winds over the sea areas will be south-westerly or variable in direction, with wind speeds ranging between 20 to 30 kmph.

The sea condition is expected to be slight around the island. However, temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers, the department warned.
