Severe lightning advisory issued for several places

Colombo, August 1 (Daily Mirror)- The Meteorology Department today issued an advisory for severe lightning at several places in the Northern, North-Central, Eastern and Uva Provinces and in the Hambantota district valid till 11.00 p.m. today.

It said thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning are likely to occur at several places in the Northern, North-Central, Eastern and Uva Provinces and in the Hambantota district.

The Department said there may be temporary localised strong winds during thundershowers and people are advised to take adequate precautions to minimise damages caused by lightning activity.
