Several train services will be cancelled today due to a shortage of locomotive operators, with only 42 operators available, the Railways Department said.

According to the service working rounds, a total of 68 locomotive engineers are needed for smooth operations. However, only 42 operators are available.

Of these, 27 are on medical leave, and another 12 have requested not to be engaged with dual services.
As a result, nearly 25 train services will be unable to operate.

There has to be a serious examination of the competency of all department heads. More importantly, Ministers need to take a more hands-on approach to their departments administration. Some surprise visits will be an eye opener. Start with the disinterested incompetents at the Immigration dept.

Very concerned to note 27 locomotive operators are on MC. Taxpayers comes last. The only solution is to privatize Railways.

There are well educated with engineering background persons hundreds are just wasting their time in 3 arm forces. I strongly believe that if these persons are assigned on each train there will be an ample man power to operate 24/7 all around the year. So we don't need to face lack of transport by demanding union strikes, sick leaves, holidays and family related emergency off days etc.

The best solution to this is to privatise the Raiway and give it over to China or India and they will run fantastic railway service. Most of our Railway guys are waste and they should be chased away. China or India will manage the raiway service with good profits and also they will give the govt taxes and the govt will not have any burden of funding the bankcrupt Railway which is a white elephant and a big headache to the tax payer.
