Colombo, June 08 (Daily Mirror): More than 3,500 police personnel have been deployed to ensure the safety and security of devotees visiting Anuradhapura, Mihintale and the Atamasthanaya for the Poson Poya festival, which begins tomorrow (June 9), police said.
The security operation is aimed at managing traffic, safeguarding worshippers and preventing accidents in and around these sacred sites.
Police have also urged devotees to be mindful of the environment by avoiding plastic and polythene, and to be cautious with their belongings due to the risk of theft.
Police further request the public to respect the sanctity of religious sites and to cooperate with police personnel throughout the festival period.
