Second batch of Sinopharm vaccines arrive



A total number of 500,000 doses of Chinese-made Sinopharm vaccines were brought to the Katunayake International Airport by a special SriLankan Airlines aircraft this morning.

The vaccines landed at 12.20 midnight from Beijing. The consignment was donated to Sri Lanka by the Chinese  government.

The consignment was officially handed over to Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi, Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa, Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga, State Minister D.V. Chanaka and Professor Channa Jayasumana at the airport. This is the second batch of vaccines donated by the Chinese Government. 

A batch consisting of 600,000 doses of Sinopharm vaccines were brought on March 31, 2021, this year. (T.K.G Kapila)
