Schoolboy entering Dalada Maligawa as Buddhist monk arrested

Colombo, April 25 (Daily Mirror) -A schoolboy who attempted to enter the Sri Dalada Maligawa, clad as a Buddhist monk was arrested by the police.

The suspect is identified as a 18-year-old schoolboy, a resident of Kirallawela, Gampaha.

He was arrested while attempting to enter the Dalada Maligawa thorugh a queue dedicated for Buddhist monks.

Kandy police are investigating into the incident.

Yes it was wrong on the part if the student, yet Police should just warn him and release. The media should think twice before putting such to print, surely they can find better things to report. This could bring harm to this young student.

1. I do not know this student's name. Even if I knew, makes no difference. Police would find it. 2. He was not found to be carrying a bomb or any distructive material. 3. Qestioning, Investigating was OK.Taking him to court ...NOT OK. 4. Why ? 'Cos, waste of time and public money. P.s. I do not know the reporter either!

The schoolboy may have committed an offence by trying to enter the Dalada Maligawa under the pretext of a monk. But is it an offence to arrest and conduct such a big investigation? What is wrong with this administration? Can you apprehend people like this? People like Arjun Mahendran and Sewwandi are still at large!
