Scheduled power cuts approved only for today: PUCSL

Colombo, Feb 10 (Daily Mirror) - The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) claimed today that it has approved the scheduled power cuts only for today, categorised under four groups.

Even though the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) published a schedule for two-day power cuts, they have not requested approval for any scheduled power cuts for tomorrow. The PUCSL is awaiting that request.

Furthermore, the consumers experiencing today’s scheduled power cuts will not necessarily be affected by tomorrow’s schedule.

The CEB requested approval for these power cuts to manage the electricity demand due to the inactivity of the Lakvijaya (Norochcholai Coal) Power Plant.

However, the PUCSL said that there are discrepancies in the areas and durations of the scheduled power cuts submitted by the CEB for approval.
