Sri Lankan constitution should include a clause where presidential candidates have at least one debate amongst top 2-3 candidates televised nationally. Most western democracies have this.

If either one of them gets elected, it won’t be easy. Current situation of the economy is so messy and really wonder if these fellas can handle it from scratch. They better get their “A Team” of economists, professionals in other fields to be ready to take over a Bankrupt country with high expenses and low incoming revenues. As usual, they will blame the previous regime for many things and that’s why they are being nominated to take over. Hope they won’t give excuses such as those we heard during the “ Sirisena and Ranil’s period.

One should, without singing the praises of one's own conduct in the election campaign, as Premadasa does, enter into a debate with AKD! An election victory will depend crucially on which of the two presents the most convincing economic policy program that will put an end to the state of emergency facing the majority of the people and the debt crisis in the long term!!! As far as I know, neither of the two presidential candidates is doing that!!! Neither of them has demonstrated proven competence in the key area of ​​the economy, nor the personal qualities and abilities that are indispensable for a future president!!! Even a well-staged rhetorical "show fight" on TV will not eliminate the personality deficits, the lack of political stature and the "colorlessness" of both politicians for the highest office in Sri Lanka!!! The parties should reconsider their choice of candidates in order to embark on a new policy, otherwise too much of the "old restorative" policy will remain!!!
