Colombo, May 10 (Daily Mirror) - Opposition leader Sajith Premadasa yesterday urged the government to formulate a mechanism to report and act swiftly on cases of child abuse.
He told Parliament that many such cases go unreported and stressed the need to take action without waiting for a formal complaint.
Premadasa said it took months to transfer the mathematics teacher who is accused of the sexual abuse of Kotahena school girl.
He said there should be an automatic process to act against child abuse cases, even without a formal complaint.
The Opposition Leader said action must be taken against the tutor who is accused of the incident.
