Colombo, March 9 (Daily Mirror) - Former Parliamentarian Sajin Vass Gunawardena, who was arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption over allegations of illegally acquiring assets worth Rs. 243.8 million, was today remanded till March 24 by Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama.

The Commission informed court that the suspect was arrested when he appeared before the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption to provide a statement regarding the ongoing probe.

Once a very powerful man in Rajapaksha era and he assaulted a srilankan diplomat in the presence large gathering but no action was taken against him as he was a protected baby during Rajapaksha regime. He publicly accused Namal embezzling Srilankan government funds when he he fell out of Rajapaksha clan. Hope he will come out with lot of important facts how all of them rob tax payers money of Srilanka.

Majority of the past politicians will not be able to explain their assets in relation to their income and satisfy CIABOC. The money they have invested are illegal earnings. So CIABOC must ask all past politicians to disclose the assets of themselves and immediate family members
