SLT Chairman removed

Chairman of Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT), Rohan Fernando has been removed from his post.

The decision to remove Mr. Fernando has been taken by the Board of Directors.

A veteran tea exporter and founder of the Heladiv Tea brand, Rohan Fernando was appointed as SLT Chairman in 2020.

Meanwhile, Reyaz Mihular, a member of the Sri Lanka Telecom PLC Board, has been appointed as the new Chairman of the SLT.

Mr Mihular has a finance background and is known for promoting good corporate governance and ethics. Should be a good appointment to steer the telecom provider through challenging times.

Who cares. This fellow was a political appointee. Even the rest is the same. There must be good members from the corporate sector who knows to drive a business. Hope SLT will be sold out and the government will have some relief.

What assurance, that corporate sector appointee WILL NOT BE "Political leaning sleep walker stooge"!!!??? The board appointed some time ago has been running the SLT with good outcomes!!!??? Best left to that board to run independently, unless SLT, dependent on Treasury hand-outs, Bad Management??? So far managed impeccably well!!!??? Do not interfere with profitable institutions please!! BS?!? Please remember what happened, MaRa interfered egoistically, with ‘SriLankan Airways’, - PROFIT MAKING TO LOSS MAKING for past 15 years – guzzling Tax Payer Money!!!?

It is alledged that Mr Rohan Fernando and a son misused Rs3billion of Heladiv money by syphoning them off for personal use which resulted in the sale of Heladiv shares. Surprising that a listed company never got these scams investigated via the SEC and even more surprising that ex President GR thought such a person fit to be the chairman of SLT. So much for big talking Mr cleans.

Lets face it; SLT was running at a profit from the day this man was made Chairman. The allegations of misappropriation of 3 Billon as made by Mr. T. W. Nonis are just hearsay stuff. From what share investors know well, Heladiv Tea doesn't need outside Money because they were always profitable! The problem with Rohan Fernando is that he was appointed to the post politically by a Corrupt Rajapaksa, hence, there is no doubt - he has to be removed.

Removing Mr. Fernando is a political intervention by Ranil on the instruction of Mahinda, President of SriLanka. If this type of vengeance continues, Ranil and his Potuwa existence for another six months even doubtful.

We reporter several times to SLT that our landline was not working. After 6 months of paying our bill but no service, we ended our subscription. SLT seems to ignore it’s customers!
