SLPP independent group sit in opposition

A group of independent MPs of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) including Dallas Alahapperuma sat in the Opposition side in Parliament today.

A total of thirteen MPs Dullas Alahapperuma, G.L. Peiris, Nalaka Godahewa, Charitha Herath, Channa Jayasumana, KPS Kumarasiri, Gunapala Rathnasekara, Udayana Kirindigoda, Wasantha Yapa Bandara, Upul Galappaththi, Thilak Rajakaruna and Lalith Ellawala sat in the Opposition.

They seated in the opposition after SLPP Chairman GL peiris made a special statement claiming that the government was going against the pledges given to the people by the SLPP.

No drama! Now that they are no longer independent and are part of the opposition can their seats be deemed to have been vacated? Cant wait to see deadwood somersaulter like GL replaced.

Sitting in the opposition will not solve the burning issues. Most have failed the voters by not calling out the wrongs that should have been put right when things were beginning to slide. Look at the mess the country is in and it is so sad. Rich in every way but driven to beg. God bless our country with good young leaders who genuinely love the country and all her citizens.

These MPs wanted roles or high posts which they weren't going to get. So, they make excuse about SLPP promise. Majority of SLPP on one side, and somehow they all promise breaker, or only few genuine SLPP member go sit in opposition. My guess is these MPs are sidelines since new PM came into power, speaking too strongly against that faction. Even the Rajapaksa the masters of trickery decide they find SLPP are good with promise so sit on government side.

To GL Pieris changing sides is like eating Ice Cream. He has changed plenty of parties, colors, seats and stances, and I am sure he himself have forgotten how many times he did it. Only thing he has not changed is his nasal, monotonous voice, to use 1000 words which can be said in TWO. words. Habits don't don't die fast.

This is clearly a step to form a new party, as right now GL has no chance of higher position with the government. GL is sidelined in the SLPP. His chairman role means nothing when he is with small faction.
