SLPP delegation to attend Indian Republic Day celebrations in Odisha



Colombo, Jan. 22 (Daily Mirror) - A delegation of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) members, led by SLPP National Organizer Namal Rajapaksa, is scheduled to travel to Odisha, India, to participate in Indian Republic Day celebrations on January 26, at the invitation of the Government of India.

The delegation includes SLPP Members of Parliament Chitral Fernando, Chamidrini Kiriella, Chathuru Galappatti and Prasad Siriwardena, along with former SLPP MPs Indika Anuruddha, Sanjeewa Edirimanne and Sampath Athukorala, and SLPP Politburo member Milinda Rajapaksa.

During the visit, the group is expected to take part in an observation tour of the Odisha Disaster Management Center, regarded as one of the world’s leading disaster management institutions. The itinerary also includes a visit to view Buddhist antiquities dating back to the era of King Asoka.

A cordial discussion regarding the visit was held recently at the official residence of the Indian High Commissioner, officials said.
