SLPP Candidate remanded for bribery

Colombo, May 2 (Daily Mirror) - The Revenue Officer of the Akmeemana Pradeshiya Sabha, one of the SLPP candidates contesting the elections for the Imaduwa Pradeshiya Sabha,  was taken into custody on suspicion of accepting a bribe of Rs. 25,000 to issue a trade licence for a hotel in the Unawatuna area.

He was arrested by a team of investigation officers of the Commission to Investigate Allegation of Bribery or Corruption when he accepted the bribe in a room in the hotel.

The suspect Angulugaha Gamage Tennison Jayatilleka was produced before Galle Acting Magistrate Lalith Pathirana and remanded till May 09.
