Colombo, April 08 (Daily Mirror) - Minister of Ports, Aviation and Shipping Nimal Siripala de Silva has been appointed as Acting Chairman of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP).
The appointment was made at the SLFP politburo meeting held this morning at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute under the chairmanship of former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga.
The Colombo District Court last week issued an interim injunction, barring former President Maithripala Sirisena from functioning as SLFP Chairman.
Following the court order, the chairmanship remained vacant.

It would have been better if they appointed someone from Pohottuwa like Chamara Sampath Dassanayake

Another crook, God bless SLFP.

From the frying pan to the fire RIP SLFP
Remove these Parliamentarians Monday, 08 April 2024 01:09 PM
All these old and unproductive folks should not be voted into power again. Most of these Morons who have been in power for many decades has brought SL into the current messy situation. What can they do further to improve the living standards if voted in again? No long term planning to benefit the people and most just interested in building their own finances. A revamp must be done and remove anyone who has been in parliament for more than 2 terms. If not this miserable lifestyle will continue for the people and politicians having a luxurious lifestyle.

Is this a progressive decision by the SLFP to make a 79 year old senile crook acting chairman?
Funny boy Monday, 08 April 2024 01:37 PM
The people would have been happy if this appointment would have been made to JAYARATHNA MAL SALAWA instead of SLFP.
ROSH Monday, 08 April 2024 01:59 PM
These political parties are old fashioned no vision by appointing these old folks to country forward. No vision no guidance on prosperity of the nation. These individuals are needed stay put at home and let take over by young generation to country forward.

Was there no other person to give this position. He will be sleeping all the time and even in his sleep calling for commissions.
Tilak Monday, 08 April 2024 02:53 PM

Buddhist Monday, 08 April 2024 03:40 PM
Now SLFP can go to sleep as its leader is a sleeper.
Ram Monday, 08 April 2024 04:16 PM
Acting Chairman or Sleeping Chairman?
Kapanpala Banadasa Monday, 08 April 2024 04:18 PM
SLFP never had a good leader starting from Banda! Now the best Bribeman to develop the party and the country!! Shameless people!!
Lokka Monday, 08 April 2024 04:57 PM
We had some hope that SLFP would reemerge with new blood injected in. It is pathetic that a person with bad reputation as a bribe taker has been appointed as they deputy chairman of this once prestigious party. SLFP rest in peace!!

THE BRIBE KING OF SRI-LANKA
RAW Monday, 08 April 2024 06:34 PM
As the president of the country at that time ,Maithri's revelation is very significant. Why no inquiry about RAW's intervention? Last time MR told RAW was behind then government overthrow too.

Sri Lanka gobba party?
P Kunchithapathan Tuesday, 09 April 2024 05:42 AM
It is very unfortunate that Srilanka Freedom Party was manipulated to the extent to appoint Nimal Siripala de Silva as its Acting Chairman. As Nimal Siripala de Silva has been notorious for multiples of wrong doings whilst holding ministerial portfolios. He was black listed by the Ambasodor of Japan for soliciting bribe and was duly complained to the President.

SLFP will be sleeping for ever with this useless man on the helm, same as Sirisena, This proves Srilankan politics will allow new blood to come in.
