SLC to hire new physio, trainer for national team

Colombo, Dec. 15 (Daily Mirror) - Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is to hire a new physio and a new trainer for the national team, it is learnt.

According to well-placed sources in Colombo, SLC is considering utilizing the services of a few local persons for the job.

"We are considering hiring the services of athletes for the job. This will be a temporary arrangement till professionals from foreign countries are shortlisted, the source whi is aware of the process, revealed.

"We have advertised for the various posts, and the process of shortlisting candidates and interviewing will begin," the source added.

"The national team's physio Chris Clarke and trainer Grant Luden have resigned from their respective posts. They resigned immediately after the World Cup," the source added.

The experienced trainer Luden was also involved with the High Performance Center (HPC).

SLC is also looking out for coaching staff for the various teams, it is understood.

The senior team head coach, Chris Silverwood, who is holidaying in England with his family, is likely to return soon after the Christmas holidays.

He will be in charge of the national team for the home series against Zimbabwe.

The visiting team will play three T-20Is and three ODIs.

"The players have begun preparations for the bilateral matches, and Silverwood has enough time to get his players ready," another source revealed.

SLC's new appointee (consultant) Sanath Jayasuriya will be involved in selecting the new support staff members for the various teams and the HPC.

What the team needs is a mental guru to develop concentration and continuous application over full game - batting bowling and fielding to be focussed. Kohli does Yoga everyday - hence this partly to his success to add to natural talent. We have talent in short bursts.

When SLC is being suspended by ICC, how can it hire new staff for the national team? This confirms that the suspension of SLC by ICC is a bogus suspension imposed at the request of corrupt Executives of SLC to get rid of the Minister who was trying to get rid of corrupt Executives.

The players mentality must be changed. At the moment for the present bunch of SL players winning is not priority. What I figured the players lack skills, talent and fitness!! The players not doing their part to enhance their skills and talent and work on their technique. Lastly, I've never seen Kohli having cramps after scoring a century Huh.

@Jude- agree, introduce a performance based payment system like any other private sector profession. Anyone failing to deliver will not be paid those lucrative bonuses. That will get this lethargic complacent overpaid bunch, thinking twice.
