Now it is crystal clear who the enemy of the people and country are. If what would be the alternate to the government cannot support what has been put on the table, they indirectly state that they would rather seen the country return to bankruptcy, but at a more aggravated and disarous level. Let's see if there would be individuals from the SJB who will not toe Sajith's selfish and warped line. This is the guy for whom it seemed too hard an ask to agree to show up and work on the Saturday in Parliament! Deep down within them they must be so disappointed and hurting that the government was able to come up with a very balanced solution, much to their dismay.

Is SP smarting that he was not allowed to speak at COPF after going there uninvited?

Younger Generation is not foolish like our grandparents and parents who voted for communal politics, rice from the moon and 8 pounds grains.

Best move for them to vote against but that's not enough Friday, 30 June 2023 06:13 AM
Agreeing with anything that harms the EPF including having capped interest payments will harm any party!
They must bring up month after month of complaining about the unfairness, not just forget about the matter after voting against it.

We used to release the dogs when JVP visited during elections, now will do the same for SJB!

This certainly unpopular proposal which can activate only by unelected executive president like RW, but SP expecting presidency, through popular vote, who else supporting this loose people’s favor in forthcoming elections

Usual politics. Oppose everything even if it is the need of the land! Play to the gallery. Do they have an alternative to the predicament? Or would they rather watch and the problem fester even further? Any party that opposes this move would be any enemy if the nation and the people. Perhaps they may have loved a solution that destabilized the entire financial and banking system. So much for the SJB opposition.

The bottom line is that the debt has to be repaid. That can be done through increasing taxes and tariffs which will effectively piling more burden on the public. Isn't it much smarter to cut losses now rather than end up paying significantly more in the future? That apart there is the risk of domestic debt default is something is not done soon to address the situation. A domestic debt default would not be pretty given the level of investment by banks and superannuation funds in the debt instruments in question. What is being proposed is a very reasonable approach to addressing the mammoth challenge. Yes, it does take political courage to do make hard decisions on behalf of the country. Sadly the SJB is not upto it. They rather play the cheap populistic game. It defines the opposition and it's leaders. The dogs keep barking and the caravan moves on.

It would not surprise those who have observed organisation culture. Some choose to sit back and admire and critique the problem to no end, while others choose (and dare) to step in and get their hands dirty to solve the problem

Why EPF and ETF only, why not banks? Whose interests DDR seeks to protect. If fact, DDR is based on class consciousness as it is designed to protect the interests of the wealthiest fractions of the population, such as the major shareholders of the banks, at the cost of EPF and ETF, the only savings of the working class.

Any MP who is concern of the ordinary public, must vote against it and there were scams to collect enough money as required. Perpetual Mendis special, Xpress Pearl, Greek, Hedging, coconut oil, sugar, garlic and many more.

SJP becoming more like JVP now. Only criticism no solution. Both should be kicked out.

As if anyone cares what the SJB does. Sajith is like a child. Cries all the time. He doesn't see the big picture and therefore will never become a successful leader. Pacifying the masses is not what he should do. He has absolutely no vision for the future.

The mattayas in the Govt will anyway vote for anything Ranil brings up and since they have the majority, SJB or the entire Opposition voting against will not make a difference.

Domestic rupee debt is different to USD debt. Government can pay the debt from taxes and selling loss making government companies. RW government is not very smart: when IMF says jump, they ask how high instead of why?
