SJB to support Deshabandu’s removal

Colombo, March 25 (Daily Mirror) - The main Opposition Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) will support the motion brought in by the government to remove IGP Deshabandu Tennakoon from office, MP Ajith P. Perera said today.

MP Perera claimed that this is the official stand of his party.

“Our leader Sajith Premadasa and MP Kabir Hashim stated their objection when Tennekoon’s name was nominated by then President Ranil Wickremesinghe. They opposed him because of misconduct. We have not changed our stance on him,” he told the Daily Mirror.

Ajith Perera is a lawyer. He knows better than all of us the first principle. Innocent until found guilty. Deshabandu is the IGP and he is suspended. This must go on until he is convicted. According to officers removal act no 5, 2002 procedures to will follow to removal of the IGP.A motion of no confidence will be passed in parliament not be satisfied .SJB members are misleading the real story.
