Colombo, May 15 (Daily Mirror) - Marking a significant milestone in the digital transformation of Sri Lanka’s legal system, the Supreme Court (SC) today inaugurated its integration with GovPay, the government’s digital payment platform.
The landmark event took place at the Supreme Court Complex in Colombo, heralding a new chapter in modernizing public service delivery within the judiciary.
The ceremonial inauguration was held under the patronage of the Chief Justice, President's Counsel Ms. Mudu Fernando, and was attended by a host of senior legal professionals, officials from LankaPay and the Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA), as well as high-ranking representatives from the banking and legal sectors.
With this new integration, a range of payments for Supreme Court services — previously handled through manual cash transactions — can now be completed online via internet and mobile banking portals, and FinTech applications linked to the GovPay digital platform. The move ensures payments can be made easily, securely, and instantly, offering enhanced convenience for legal professionals and the public alike.
