A fundamental rights petition filed challenging the attempts by the Government to restructure domestic debts was today dismissed by the Supreme Court.

This petition had been filed by the President of the Inter Company Employees Union and former JVP Parliamentarian Wasantha Samarasinghe and five others. (Lakmal Sooriyagoda)

Clowns in the JVP and other trouble mongers must learn to stop this mockery. A nation in trouble must pull together. The culprits can be punished as a different exercise but dont disrupt the solutions to the problems. Lets be less selfish. When stupid and greedy Gota (and his advisors from the Vipath Maga) gave an unviable and dissasterous tax cut to win elections we as citizens greedily and selfishly supported him. Now the whole country including those who didnt vote for him are paying the price. We deserve this for our stupidity.

The important truth about its domestic debt is the local people are the ultimate owners of the debt. When you do nothing and let the politicians pile on debt locally for road construction,building upkeep and new local projects and plunder the money allocated. The observers who do nothing also assume the debt- sad but true fact this is why the local governing bodies need elections and elected representatives to be accountable. The people can rise and send politicians who mismanage home but if you dont have elected representatives to answer the courts are helpless and who are silent own the debt and the losses from restructuring.
