sana - Russia’s Defense Ministry said on Tuesday that its air defenses intercepted and destroyed 419 Ukrainian drones overnight, including several that were heading toward Moscow.
According to the ministry, cited by Agence France-Presse (AFP), the drones were intercepted across 19 Russian regions, including Crimea, the Krasnodar region and the Moscow region.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said air defense systems shot down 50 drones approaching the capital, adding that there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
Emergency crews were deployed to sites where drone debris fell, Sobyanin said, without providing further details.
The latest attacks come amid intensified hostilities between Russia and Ukraine, with Kyiv increasing drone strikes on Russian energy facilities and infrastructure while Moscow says its forces continue to advance on the battlefield.
