Rs. 28 mn paid as compensation to Gnana Akka: Nalinda

Colombo, Feb 27 (Daily Mirror) - The former government had paid Rs. 28 million as compensation to famous soothsayer Gnana Akka for the damages to her house and shrine during the Aragalaya period, Chief Government Whip Minister Nalinda Jayatissa said today.

he told Parliament that the previous government had paid Rs. 1,121 million as compensation to local government politicians in addition to the Rs. 1,221 million paid to the MPs and Ministers.

He said 14 Presidential Commissions had been appointed during the previous regime and that Rs. 530.1 million had been spent for these commissions.
