Colombo, July 24 (Daily Mirror) - Former Minister Rohitha Abeygunawardena’s son-in-law was remanded till August 1 over an illegally assembled vehicle case, while SJB MP Jagath Vithana’s son, accused in the same case, was released on bail by the Mathugama Magistrate’s Court.

I read in news papers one said he bought the SUV for Rs 450 lacs, another said paid Rs 350 lacs and the letter signed for Rs 200 lacs, correct me if I am wrong. If it is correct, then there is a case of money laundering, isn't i? Respective authorities, pls take a note for necessary action for money laundering

I definitely think the persons buying these vehicles knew very well that there was a racket going on because it was given far below market value as these people did not pay the customs duty correctly , possibly declaring them as car parts although the whole car came in the container. - Father in law was the Minister in charge of the Port of Colombo etc at this time:: this would be common knowledge to all politicians although they will now deny any involvement. The learned Judge will of course take the correct decision. They are highly educated persons and not fools as some might think !!

Government lost Mathugama pradeshiya sabha and this was a revenge drama nothing else. That vehicle has a lease and Jagath Vithana is the current owner not his son. Absolute owner is the leasing company, why directors of leasing company and rmv officials responsible for transfer not arrested. This shows the drama. Lol
