Rohini Kaviratne apologises to Speaker but wants action against Leader of the House

Colombo, July 24 (Daily Mirror) - Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Rohini Kaviratne tendered an apology today to Speaker Jagath Wickramaratne for asking him to shut his mouth on Wednesday.

"I was pushed towards using aggressive words because of the manner the Speaker was acting at that time. The Speaker questioned where my discipline was and my apology is an answer to that question," Ms. Kaviratne said.

Also, the MP claimed that her privileges were violated by Leader of the House Bimal Ratnayake.

"The Leader of the House said I am a daughter of a murderer. My father did not kill anyone but gave life to people of the Matale district," she added.

However, she accepted that a number of torture chambers existed during the UNP government in 1989.

those in the opposition seem to think that they are superior because of their long period in the parliament over the years and they are suffering from ego related mental disorders. we are watching parliamentary debates not because of the opposition who do not know which party they belong, but because of the fresh batch of members from NPP, who are professionals and decent.

The SJB having taken anybody and everybody into its party has turned out to be uncouth. Harsha and Eran who brought some respect to the party in the past have also lost plot too. Harsha things the more he shouts people will hear him. Life is all out quality of speech and not volume. Get your act together SJB!
