Colombo, April 4 (Daily Mirror) - Roads in Colombo and several other areas will be closed from this evening until Sunday (April 6) due to the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Police said.
The Indian Prime Minister will arrive in the country at the Bandaranaike International Airport this evening.
Police said a special traffic and security plan will be implemented.
Accordingly, the Colombo–Katunayake Expressway and Baseline Road will be closed intermittently between 6 PM and 10 PM today.
The Police requested passengers arriving at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) during that period to take note of these temporary road closures and plan their travel accordingly.
On April 5, roads in the Galle Face area, Independence Square vicinity, and around “Ape Gama” in Battaramulla will also be closed from time to time.
On 6th April, a special traffic plan will be in effect, with intermittent road closures in Anuradhapura town, including Railway Station Road and the areas surrounding the Sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhiya, from 7:30 am to 10:30 am.
Police urged the public to cooperate with the temporary restrictions to ensure the safety and smooth execution of Prime Minister Modi’s visit.
