Road accident in Anuradhapura kills two, injures pregnant woman

Colombo, July 15 (Daily Mirror) - Two people were killed and a pregnant woman was seriously injured following a collision between a motorcycle and a “Sisu Seriya” school bus in the Mihindupura area of Anuradhapura this morning (15), police said.

Police said the motorcycle was carrying three people — two men and a woman — when it collided with the bus, which was transporting schoolchildren. The two men travelling on the motorcycle died at the scene.

The injured woman has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital for treatment.

Initial investigations revealed that one of the deceased men and the injured pregnant woman had travelled from Polonnaruwa to visit a friend’s residence. They were travelling with another friend on the motorcycle when the collision occurred.

The driver of the Sisu Seriya bus has been arrested in connection with the accident, and further investigations are being conducted by the Anuradhapura Traffic Police.
