Repairs on 2nd generator at Norochcholai to be completed in less than 10 days

The management of the Norochcholai thermal power complex is hopeful that the ongoing repairs to the boiler at the second generator of the complex could be completed in less than ten days.

Manager of the power complex Nalaka Wijekoon said the boiler had been stalled since June 18 and had been undergoing repairs.
He said the repairs were nearing completion in 75 days well in advance of the estimated time frame of 100 days.

He said between 10 and 15 percent of the country’s requirement of power had been met by stage II of the power complex since 2014.(Hiran Priyankara)

There are no Sri Lankan who understand about it enough. Foreign expert vital for this, because all these were invented overseas, and maintenance schedules decided by the true experts. Doesn't matter which country they are from, as long as they do good job. We can only hire other independent experts from another country if we cannot be satisfied with whom designed it. All our knowledgable engineer who learn about these will of course will emigrate overseas, along with technician, so having contract for foreign firm to support us can be done.

There should've been the second even larger coal generation plant up by now. But booruwa Sirisena blocked it. And there are no other 24 hours, all season large scale plant, at lower cost other than coal. Can't be all green energy and renewable energy, realistic to get coal powered stations as China and India all gungho and building more.
