Colombo, Jan. 31 (Daily Mirror)- Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Sarath Fonseka yesterday urged SJB leaders Sajith Premadasa to remove former Army Commander Daya Ratnayake from the party claiming that party would have to face consequences otherwise.
He said most of the high ranking army officials who are partial to the SJB called him and expressed their disappointment over the appointment.
When asked what action he would take if Ratnayake was not removed, Fonseka said he would not leave the party but would have to work against the appointment.
Field Marshal Fonseka told journalists that others in the party are also frustrated about the way new comers are accommodated in the SJB.
"Even SJB General Secretary Ranjith Madduma Bandara accepted that Daya Ratnayake is not a person whom the SJB should welcome.," he said.
" Some others in the party including Harsha De Silva, Eran Wickramaratne and Kabir Hashim had informed me that they are also disturbed with the decision of the party leader to accept people to the party, " he added.
" I don't personally agree with the working committee decision of the party to give a blank cheque to the party leader to welcome anyone of his choice to the party," he said.

I am correcting my concluding remark of a comment by saying Sarath Fonseka will also work with the newly inducted SJB General Ratnayake in the event of taking over government!!! I was not aware of Ratnayake's extremely close relationship with Gota and the criminal and reputation-damaging activities surrounding Fonseka's imprisonment! Against this background, Fonseka's concerns regarding the future political direction of the SJB must be fully agreed! The membership of such a person is highly questionable, it changes the credibility of the party!!! With die-hards and opportunists you damage the party and you won't win an election!!!

He is correct. Taking frogs from sinking ship is a poor leadership quality. Guys like Daya does not have any popularity among people. Even frogs like Shan are an utter waste

Sajith is the leader of the party and the EC has given him authority to make any decision regarding accepting any inidivual or party to SJP. If you do not agree with his decision why do not leave the party. You are just one person. We can remember how you treated RW when you contested as the UNP presidental candidate.

Sajith can accommodate anyone and promise anything to win the election. That is his personality. Can this man become the president and punish culprits or build the country? He has only big desires but no capacity even to run a ministry. He brought down UNP to zero because of his power greed in the last election. His only policy is winning by hook or crook. But are the Sri Lankan majority so insane to vote for him and put the country in jeopardy?

I don't think SF should join a party rooted in insurgencies that have attempted to overthrow governments. It would go against his heroic career as a war veteran. He would make a good prime minister. Perhaps he could explore to see if he can find some common ground with the president. It will be a good outcome for the country.

These decisions will cause unpleasantness among the party seniors. Recently, Nalaka GodaheWa, GL, this Daya Ratnayaka were given membership. They are not candidates with any substantial vote bases. They have nowhere to go and smells who is likely to win and try to join. They must be rejected

I thought Sajith is a man of integrity, but I was wrong. SF has a right to be upset about Sajith’s actions . Sajith made the biggest blunder in his political career. He owe SF a public apology. I don’t think I can support sajith anymore. He should put himself in SF’s shoes, This war hero spent 2 years in prison for nothing , he almost got killed doing a service to country. Shame on Sajith.

Field Marshall Sarath Fonseka is no ordinary verteran of the war but a strategist who can foresee the future. When decisions are taken by the leader entertaining new comers it should be a collective decision as once membership is given it could be detrimental to the party and this person in question has been one of Gotabaya's catcher. So as the saying goes "snakes hide behind grass whilst politicians hide behind their lies"

Sajith continues to showcase his immaturity and childish decision making trait every time he does something. If he thinks this will be thrilling and pompous like driving a bus his party gifts to village school, he is obviously hasn't realized he has shot himself in the foot again with this bad decision. If he is an alternate Sri Lanka has for her future - even God wont be able to help us!
