Colombo, Feb 10 (Daily Mirror) - The country will experience constant power cuts for the next few days because of the breakdown of the Norochcholai coal power plant as a result of yesterday's blackout.
As a result of the breakdown of the plant which generates 900 megawatts of electricity, there is a gap between demand and supply. It will lead to power cuts, a top source said.
The CEB is expected to announce scheduled power cuts today for the next few days.

Now we can see how correct was then president premadasa and ranjan wijerathne when they eliminted the armed jvp terrorists at that time. I agree with you. These Marxist-JVP guys are the bane of the country's development. Can you name any nation that has thrived under a Marxist regime? These people are good at rhetoric, and that is it! For the 50 years, the JVP guys organised debilitating activities that made the county go backwards for centuries. When proposals were introduced to restructure the CEB, JVP-led unions protested. What have they achieved, subsequently? Nothing. Just giving agony to people. The same scenario is with Sri Lankan Airlines. All progressive nations move forward with innovative structures to revitalise state-owned enterprises, not just embracing them saying "these are our national assets, "these are our national assets". Actually, these are national labilities. Our hard-earned money in the form of taxes is spent on these institutions to maintain them. "A thriving nation, a beautiful life".

Even if what you say is true, it is our Engineers that accept the shipment and install it. If they are unable to understand good quality from bad or have the integrity to speak up, they shouldn't be employed.

NPP is clueless. Former President Ranil with all the brick bats he was getting from all corners, yet managed to calmly get us out of a financial crisis and bring the economy back to manageable levels. He had a plan and a purpose. People, instigated by JVP/Malimawa said he is supporting Rajapaksas, when it was the Rajapaksas who toppled his government in 2019 by the Good Friday attack. Each time Ranil took the reigns of governance, the JVPers joined with the Opposition and either toppled his government or made it impossible to govern. It was sheer bad luck for RW and and bad luck for us as a nation. If he was allowed to continue as the Head of this country, we would have become a developed nation just like Singapore in no time. No one is perfect but efficiency and wisdom is necessary for governance.

He is "the" man with wisdom and vision, who could have, as you have correctly said, made Sri Lanka a highly developed nation. This country and its people are so unfortunate.

No fake Dr Dee , like fake Dr Tissa , you guys are waiting for some mishap to happen to write comments which are of no use to anyone. The issue was caused due to previous corruption that led to implementing inferior grid without adequate resilience. Norochçholai is also a questionable project which earned millions of dollars I'm commissions for those involved. NPP will clean everything within 5 years.

It is pathetic to see these comments when we all know the government will not sabotage the power supply to create chaos or neither did they build these supplies during the last three months - since they came in to power. This clearly shows how these power connections were maintained by previous governments. What matters now is to see how well the government will fix this issue to avoid recurrence. So please criticize wisely to avoid misleading the public as similar such misunderstandings in the past brought stupid people and governments in to power causing the current crippled state the nation is in.
